Chapter 7-9 Questions

What did Ponyboy learn at the end of Chapter 6 about his family?

Ponyboy realizes that Darry really does care. Pony goes and hugs Darry the way he hugs Sodapop. The three brothers reunite and realize that they all really do care for one another. Darry is just doing his job being the older sibling and acting like and mom and dad to his brothers while Ponyboy see's this more and more by his actions.

What threat does Juvenile court have on the Curtis family? If the judge decides to separate Ponyboy, Sodapop and Darry, how would it affect each of the boys?

This would separate the family and they would not have each other anymore when in danger. Darry cares for the brothers and does not want to be alone. He wants them all to stick together and be a happy family. Ponyboy wants the same and Sodapop needs his older brothers also when he is alone. Especially at night.

How does Two-Bit explain "greasers" to Ponyboy? (P.113) What influence does this have on Ponyboy?

He says that it isn't good to be a greaser and to be alone in an alley without anybody to help you. This influenced Ponyboy because it opened his eyes more. He realizes the importance of having someone with you at all times when in a gang like the greasers. Therefore Ponyboy would not go alone again into an alley alone and get jumped.
