Divergent - "Fright Fest:

Four shows that his fear landscape includes his father, his dad is there because Four is still afraid of his dad's abuse. Four is afraid of claustrophobic spaces because he used to be put in a closet as punishment. In this case Four shows that he still as to face his fear landscape and finds this very hard to do because, he is terrified of his dad and doesn't know how to deal with the situation.

In my fear landscape, my fears would be represented by crowded areas and robbers. This is because I have had bad experiences with robberies or being in a crowded space. If I were to be in a crowded place the first thing I try to do is escape by, listening to music that distracts me or by completely leaving the area and going elsewhere. Often, I try to stay in the area and face my fears to overcome them but, always fail when attempting this especially if I am with people who are not close to me.

Recently, I have been in one of my fear landscapes. A dark night in the town of Fort.Erie walking outside with some friends and thinking we heard a bear or some form of animal growling. I ran, breathed heavily and screamed to the top of my lungs. I am terrified of bears and will always be. Never have I heard this sound my 2 years of living here so that night completely freaked me out. I have more than 5 things that I fear. Being around dead bodies, watching people die (especially family), bears, snakes and crowded areas especially at night.

My biggest fear would have to be death and the fear landscape for this would be the church that my grandpa and my friend's funeral were held. The day that my grandpa passed away was a very scary moment and one that I will never forget. When I was 10 years old, I was sitting in the passenger seat of my dad's car and received a phone call from my grandma saying we should come over now, the ambulance were on the way. My heart dropped and it became hard to breathe. My grandpa was my life. The one I would always go to when something bad happened to me or I was in danger. I remember looking over to my dad and watching the tears run down his cheeks. I begun to cry and pray for my grandpa hoping that he wouldn't leave me this day. As we drove up to the house, the ambulance were taking him away. I asked my grandma "where are they going with papa?" she said "he's leaving us Dee, he's going to a better place. My heart crashed. Nothing was ever the same. A few weeks later, my grandpa's funeral was held in our church and sitting in the front row where his body laid was the hardest thing I've ever faced. Ever since this day I have been afraid of going to church because, I remember my grandpa and the pain of watching them take him away.

Divergent Entry 3

In chapter 5, Beatrice goes to a ceremony where the fractions are being choosen. Beatrice chooses Dauntless and Caleb surprises everyone including his family by choosing Erudite. Dauntless is the fraction that is dedicated to bravery, courage and fearlessness and Erudite is dedicated to knowledge, intelligence and curiosity. In chapter 6, Beatrice leaves the ceremony with the Dauntless crowd. She turns to her parents and receives a mad and sad look from dad but, a smile from mom which is weird for her. She ends up taking the train home and has to face some hard situations on this journey. Beatrice not only had to run on the moving train but, had to jump off the train for a transfer. Choosing your fraction must be very hard. If I was in the same situation as Beatrice I would have choosen Abnegation because, I am a very caring, loving person and I always want to dedicate my time to others. Knowing that Beatrice and Caleb were both born into a family who are Abnegation would be another reason this would be a wise choice. At the end of this we have one sad and angry father but, a happy and proud mother. Not sure what Beatrice will do to make her dad satisfied but, she might have to leave her parents forever due to the fight that could take place between the fractions.

Divergent Entry 2

I am currently on the 4th chapter of divergent and it amazes me what Beatrice has to go through with getting the results about what fraction she is. Hiding important information from your parents is never a wise choice but, for Beatrice this wasn't a choice. She had to hide what her fraction was. Having these fractions is something that the government has put a lot of thinking into and reasoning for why they have made these labels. I think that this could cause alot of discomfort for Beatrice, leaving home if needed and not being able to tell her parents. She is either Dauntless or Abnegation but, the probability of her becoming Dauntless is very high because, she is a very caring person and always wants to help others around her which would be Abnegation. Becoming Dauntless would definitely be a possibility for Beatrice because she will become courageous and brave throughout this phase of her life. Whatever fraction Beatrice is going to be still remains unknown.

Divergent Entry 1

I am currently reading the book Divergent, a book that is about the choices we make in life, our beliefs and how they can change you. The slogan of the book is "one choice can transform you". An example of this would be when Beatrice (one of the girls in the novel) transforms into somebody who is very brave and courageous and chooses to be a healer for others around her. I know that I will enjoy this novel and it will guide me in a good direction of what perpetrators, healers, bystanders and victims are.

Bullying Campaign Goal

Campaign Intro

In this campaign I plan to motivate children who are being bullied and help them to realize that they are beautiful not only in God’s eyes but the eyes of others around them. When people bully others it’s to seek attention and because they are sometimes insecure. I believe that by doing this Campaign and showing kids why bullying may occur in their life will help them to become stronger individuals. When the Campaign is over my goal is to carry out a survey asking people around me if they have been driven in any way by the words and videos I used to get my message across and what they as victims may do moving forward. To the people who bully others I would like to encourage them to stop by showing clips of what they do to others on the inside and how they can impact lives in a negative way by causing harm with words or physically doing something to a person. I will also like to find out reasoning for bullying by specific bullies and help them to become better people. The people who are bystanders, I would like to explain the importance of reporting any bullies they have heard about or people they've seen that are being bullied but hiding it. This is very important because, for things to change and to protect people around us it’s important to step in and help not sit back and watch. Apart of life is being the change that you want to see in the world and if you start making this change others will be motivated and start following you. This leads to a healthier and more positive lifestyle.

As the healer my role will be to provide a good example for others around me of how they can encourage others to stop bullying and, to put a reasonable end to bullying within my community. I believe that God can help me to gain confidence by speaking to the victims and the bystanders. The way that I will get my message across is by; stopping others when I hear negative words being directed at a person, jumping in and saying stop when others are being hurt and by discontinuing a community where others take out their anger on people by bullying and by using this as a way to seek attention. The way that this will happen will be to speak with the bullies and give them a few tips on how they should treat others using the golden rule (treat others the way you want to be treated). At the end of this I would have liked to gain some self confidence in the way that I can encourage others by sharing my passion for this particular topic.
